Tafwyl
Tafwyl is a festival which brings together the best of Welsh language music, arts, and culture in the heart of Cardiff.
The festival offers a unique and immersive experience for everyone, regardless of whether you are a native Welsh speaker or simply interested in discovering the beauty of the Welsh language.
Looking back at the 2024 festival
This year's Tafwyl was held from 12 to 14 July 2024.
Creative Cardiff, part of Cardiff University’s Centre for the Creative Economy, sponsored the market area at Tafwyl, and Learn Welsh Cardiff hosted a wide range of sessions throughout the weekend.
Prosiect Pūtahitanga
Since May 2023, academics from Cardiff University have worked with artists from Wales and New Zealand who use the Welsh and Māori languages.
They identified common themes in their experiences, especially regarding how their use of language influenced their identity and their opportunities for local and international collaboration.
Elen Ifan and Joe O’Connell from the University shared some of their research findings during the weekend in Pabell Llais, and participating artists discussed how these issues impacted their artistry and careers.
More information about this project can be found on Welsh-language and Māori musicians take centre stage.
Hosted by Menter Caerdydd, Tafwyl is Cardiff's annual festival that celebrates the Welsh language, arts, and culture.
