Things to do in Cardiff during your visit
Whilst visiting us, if you have some free time, be sure to explore the city, where you will find beautiful green spaces, modern shopping centres, indoor markets and our very own castle just a short walk away.
Cathays Park campus is just a ten-minute walk from the city centre, so it's easy to get around and explore.
Cardiff has one of the UK's biggest shopping centres, St David's and St David's 2, beautiful Edwardian and Victorian arcades and Cardiff Market, situated in a Victorian building in the city centre. There are also great places to eat a short walk from campus including Pettigrew Tea Rooms (a traditional Welsh tearoom based in Bute Park), Wahaca (the Hayes, City Centre), The Potted Pig (High Street, City Centre) and many more.

Alternatively, you can take a city tour where you will see Cardiff's magnificent civic buildings (of which the University is a key part), Cardiff Castle and the iconic Principality Stadium (formerly known as the Millennium Stadium).
Or see the sights and relax by taking a Cardiff Boat Tour to Cardiff Bay. The bay offers a wealth of cultural attractions including the Wales Millennium Centre, the National Assembly for Wales and the Pierhead Building.
Staying longer than a day?
If you intend extending your visit, you may like to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park, immerse yourself in history at St Fagan's National History Museum, go white-water rafting or simply enjoy the stunning view from Penarth Pier.
