Park and Ride Cardiff East

Cardiff Bus will provide a dedicated open day shuttle service from the Cardiff East Park and Ride (Junction 30 of the A48(M), CF23 8HH) site to our Cathays Park Campus. The Open Day bus service begins after 08:00 and runs until 16:30.

Buses from the Park and Ride depart approximately every 15 minutes. The journey time to the city centre is around 20 minutes and will cost £12 per car (cash or contactless). If paying by cash, the exact fare is required. The Park and Ride service may provide a more convenient option as spaces in the city centre can be limited and the cost of parking can vary.

Return buses to the Cardiff East Park and Ride site will depart from the bus stop outside the School of Law and Politics on Park Place (Cathays Park Campus) throughout the day, until 16:30. This is the same bus stop at which visitors disembark the shuttle service on the inbound journey.

Note, that at peak times, there may be a queue for these services, both on the inbound and outbound routes.

The Park and Ride site closes promptly at 18:00 and is locked overnight. It will not be possible to access the site after 18.00 and the site remains closed on Sundays.

Free shuttle bus services

Talybont Residences and the Sports Training Village and Heath Park Campus (via Heath Park West),

Free shuttle buses will be available from College Road, Cathays Park Campus for those who wish to visit Talybont Residences and Sports Training Village and the Heath Park Campus. Note, that at peak times, there may be a queue for these services, both on the inbound and outbound route

Route 1: College Road (near the Temple of Peace), Cathays Park Campus to the Heath Park Campus (including Heath Park West), via Talybont Residences and the Sports Training Village

A free service runs throughout the day from 09:00. The last bus departs College Road near the Temple of Peace, Cathays Park Campus at 15:00 and the Heath Park Campus at 16:30.

The return journey will visit the same stops in reverse.

Route 2: Centre for Student Life to the Queen’s and Trevithick Buildings (for the Schools of Engineering and Physics and Astronomy)

A free shuttle bus service runs throughout the day from 09:00. The last bus departs the Centre for Student Life at 15:15 and Trevithick and Queen’s Buildings at 16:00.
