Home undergraduate fees

Tuition fees are payable to Cardiff University for each year of your course (including repeat years).

The annual fee covers:

  • all tuition fees
  • essential course costs
  • registration and examinations (except for the re-taking of examinations by applicants not currently registered).

Charges for University accommodation are not included in the tuition fee.

2025 entry

'Home’ students on a placement as part of their degree, including:

  • Students on International Exchange (study year or semester abroad)
  • Students studying or working abroad (paid or unpaid) under the Turing scheme or Taith programme
  • Unpaid research at an overseas Higher Education Institution
  • Work placements (paid or unpaid) overseas
15-20% of the full-time fee, dependent on the type of placement
Students on the work-based learning year of the BSc/MArch in Architecture50% of the full-time fee

*On 4th December 2024 the Welsh Government confirmed that the tuition fee cap (the maximum tuition fee that regulated providers can charge to certain students on full-time undergraduate courses) will increase to £9,535 per year, subject to changes in the regulations by the Welsh Government.

Fees after year one

The University reserves the right to increase tuition fees in the second and subsequent years of a course as permitted by law or Welsh Government policy.

Where applicable we will notify you of any change in tuition fee by the end of June in the academic year before the one in which the fee will increase.
