Mechanical and manufacturing laboratories
Located in Queen's BuildingsOur mechanical and manufacturing engineers use our labs to gain practical skills in testing and diagnostics, and they can access a wide range of 3D printing technologies.
Medical facilities
Located in Trevithick BuildingOur Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Research Facility is a one-of-a-kind centre in the UK, offering students the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects focused on musculoskeletal health.
Civil engineering laboratories
Located in Queen's BuildingsOur civil, environmental and architectural engineers can use our labs to gain practical experiences in such applications as flood mitigation, building integrity and infrastructure development.
Field surveying and testing
Our civil, environmental and architectural engineers develop practical skills in the field, making best use of the Welsh landscape and surrounding areas. Our students learn to work in a team through activities such as surveying.
Electrical power system simulator
Located in Queen's BuildingsOur electrical and electronic engineering students use our labs to get a real feel for working on a power grid, including setting up, running and testing simulations of a modern power station.
High voltage laboratory
Located in Queen's BuildingsOur electrical and electronic engineers use our extensive facilities to improve their understanding of high voltage systems and phenomena, from the National Grid to alternative insulation gases to lightning strikes on aircraft.
Cardiff Racing paddock
Located in Trevithick BuildingWe provide support and facilities for our award-winning Cardiff Racing team to design, build and compete at Formula Student events in the UK and overseas.
Our student spaces
Located in Queen's and Trevithick BuildingsOur student spaces are perfect for studying, group learning and socialising. The Trevithick Library provides IT facilities and information resources for all of our engineering students.

We are based right in the heart of the city with easy access to the town centre, main transport hubs, the rest of the University, student halls of residence and the Students' Union.
Centre for Student Life
Our school is a short walk away from the new home for our Students' Union, student support services and a large selection of shops, restaurants and study spaces.
