Accommodation

We try to house students in university accommodation and will provide housing support to all incoming students.

You'll have your own study bedroom, with a bed, desk, chair, wardrobe and storage. You won’t need to buy any additional furniture.

University accommodation is generally self-catered (we don't offer meal plans). And, unlike other UK universities, we don't house all of our study abroad students together, so you will be integrated with UK, European and international students.

Student in halls bedroom

If you’re coming to Cardiff for one semester, you can apply for your preferred room type (for example ensuite vs. shared bathroom). If you’re coming for the full academic year, you can also apply for your preferred residence hall on campus. We will send you more information about applying for accommodation after you are accepted on the programme.

All students accepted to study will receive comprehensive visa guidance and can contact our Student Visa Support team for specific enquiries.

Getting here

  • We have a 30,000-strong student body from over 100 different countries.

Our team will be here every step of the way to make sure your trip to Cardiff is as smooth and effortless as possible.

We'll email you with information about the date to arrive and reaching campus after you have been accepted to the programme. You should plan to arrive for induction activities which usually take place the week before term starts.

If you are staying in on-campus accommodation, our Residences team will email you to confirm the date you can move into your residences.

If you choose to make your own way to Cardiff, there are a number of ways to get here via train and coach. We also have advice for international students on entering and travelling to the UK and what to expect.

Induction and orientation

At the start of the autumn semester, we provide an induction programme to new international students. There are sessions specifically for study abroad students and a range of social events to get involved in. We also run a similar induction programme for those students studying with us in the spring semester.

We'll send you more information about induction prior to your arrival.

Student support

We pride ourselves on providing a student experience that is as productive and happy as possible.

Our Centre for Student Life is based on campus and is dedicated to the welfare of all our students. They have specialist advisers who can help you with international-specific issues. Additionally, they offer confidential counselling services if you'd like to speak to someone other than your personal tutor.
