Wales Millennium Centre
To be a place for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy and participate in the arts.
Activities
The Centre works on numerous Community Engagement initiatives that celebrate and share culture including Black History Month, Refugee Week, Diwali and Chinese New Year.
Tiger Bay Tales
The project involves collecting the oral histories / stories from both existing and ex residents of Butetown/Tiger Bay. All the stories will be held on an interactive website as well as ‘listening pods’ in spaces across the City. A short-list of stories will be selected with an interactive blue plaque trail created throughout Butetown to share the vibrant history of the locale.
The project is due to culminate in Spring 2016 and has been supported by Heritage Lottery Fund. There are likely to be future developments in bringing the stories to life through various art forms. Project collaborators include People’s Collection.
