These budding entrepreneurs believe that ethical business is one of the key drivers of change in the world. They both hope to utilise effective resource management to make business work for a better world.
Saleh and Nihad have an end goal of opening their own businesses, and credit their time at Cardiff for helping them to develop skills in collaboration and communication, with Cardiff’s focus on ethics within business inspiring them both to use their business force for good.
Saleh and Nihad are from the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan respectively, and met while studying Business Management at Cardiff University together.

Business is crucial to how societies function, and Saleh and Nihad both want to be part of that.
Together, we can achieve great things
What inspired you to study business management?
Nihad: My dad owns a business, so he guided me toward studying business management. But what really made me love it here at Cardiff was the opportunity to meet amazing people like Saleh and our other friends, and to learn from great lecturers.
Saleh: I agree, the tutors and lecturers were amazing. They really cared about us and wanted to ensure that we achieved our academic goals. As for me, I’ve always been curious about how businesses work. Even as a kid, I’d compare two restaurants and wonder why one had more customers than the other. That curiosity led me to study business — understanding what makes some businesses succeed and others fail is fascinating.
Do you think business can change the world?
Saleh: Absolutely. Business is one of the key drivers of change in the world, whether it’s through money, influence, or power. How you manage and direct business resources can make a significant impact — either for better or worse.
Nihad: I completely agree. Managing money and resources effectively is crucial. Through businesses, we can control how things are run, and that has a huge influence on society.
Saleh: Cardiff’s focus on ethics in business has shown us how important it is to use business as a force for good.
What are your plans after completing your degree?
Nihad: I’d like to open my own business, a café specialising in French pastries and artisan chocolates, but in a way that’s affordable for everyone. I want to bring something special and accessible to people, especially somewhere in Europe.
Saleh: I’m planning to pursue my master’s degree first, with the aim of making a real impact in the world, helping it to become a better place through academic research. Business is crucial to how societies function, and I want to be part of that. Eventually, I’d like to start my own business too, but I know that a degree alone doesn’t make you a successful entrepreneur — it’s about the practical experience and understanding you gain along the way.
How do you feel about the idea that ‘together, we can’ make a difference?
Nihad: We believe that together we can make business work for a better world.
Saleh: Yes, whether it’s through business, collaboration, or simply supporting each other, we can make a great impact on humanity. Together, we can truly change the world for the better.
