Student experience Q&A
With Prekshya Uprety, Social and Public Policy (MSc)
We took 5 minutes to chat with Prekshya Uprety, a Social and Public Policy (MSc) student to find out how her studies are going and what she's enjoying most about her time with us at Cardiff University.
What’s your favourite thing about the School (doesn’t need to be related to your course/studies)?
My favourite things about the School are the welcoming ambience and the building's classic design. The extra support for international students, such as help with language and academic writing techniques, along with the flexible class schedule, allows me to balance my academic and personal life. Networking events are also great opportunities to connect with peers and professionals globally.
If a friend of yours was thinking of coming to Cardiff University, what advice would you give them / what would you say?
When applying, make sure to thoroughly explore the University online and feel free to reach out to the international student support groups with any questions about your course.
"No question is too small, and they’ll respond promptly. The University also offers partial scholarships for international students, so don’t hesitate to explore and apply."
Additionally, consider applying for fully-funded scholarships such as Chevening, Marshall, Commonwealth, GREAT and a few others.
What have you enjoyed most about your studies to date?
What I’ve most appreciated in my studies so far is the constructive feedback I receive after each assessment. Professors provide in-depth evaluations of my work, offering critical insights that help deepen my understanding and continuously improve my performance.
What skills have you developed during your studies?
So far, I’ve been developing the skill of simplifying complex ideas and presenting them clearly and concisely, thanks to guidance from my professors and a few of my friends.
