Professional Doctorate
The Professional Doctorate programme offers the opportunity to examine leading edge theories and research evidence in order to understand the social impact of policies and practices in a professional context.
This part-time doctoral research degree is fully equivalent to the PhD, but is strongly professionally oriented.
The Professional Doctorate focusses on ‘applied’ rather than ‘pure’ research. The linkages between research-based knowledge and its application in a wide range of professional settings are central to this Doctorate, which has the career needs of middle to senior level professionals in mind.
We offer an integrated scheme within which education, health, social work and policy professionals have the opportunity to study together. This unique interprofessional learning environment allows you to reflect on what is shared across professional boundaries as well as nuances distinctive to your own occupational traditions and experiences.
There are four distinctive pathways within the Professional Doctorate scheme:
Application to the Professional Doctorate programme must be supported by a research proposal of between 500 and 1500 words. For more information on what is required, please contact us.
