GRAIL

Make/model MMGRA-30140601
Details The GRAIL comprises an instrumented dual-belt treadmill, a motion capture system and synchronised virtual reality environment and 3 video cameras. The treadmill is dual belt with integrated force plates mounted on a two degrees of freedom motion frame. A harness mechanism is attached to the ceiling for safety and handrails are located either side of the treadmill. A 180o cylindrical projection screen is positioned at the front of the system with 3 ceiling mounted projectors providing wide angle lens projections. There are ceiling and wall mounted motion capture (infrared) cameras. This is supported by a server rack that houses a D-Flow computer, motion capture computer, image generator (running projector software), videoserver, main network switch, video network switch, KVM (video, keyboard mouse switch), Vicon lock+ and an audio amplifier. There is also a treadmill control cabinet (MIC). This is all operated by the operator desk which houses 3 monitors, 2 keyboards and a system operator console. The software includes D-Flow, MoCap and Nexus. The GRAIL has been integrated with equipment allowing us to monitor muscle activity levels (via surface electromyography) during movements and deliver electrical nerve or muscle stimulation or transcranial (brain) magnetic stimulation during treadmill walking.
