Industry

For industry, we provide a source of expertise that is academically rigorous yet grounded in practical applications.

We work with small, and multinational companies in all areas of circularity improvement within operations, and the whole supply chain, to support and promote relevant initiatives, including product design, repurposing, remanufacturing, and refurbishment.

The centre’s resources include access to industry-standard 3D printers, including £200,000 of industrial HP machines, with a wide range of advanced Additive Manufacturing process technologies to support and promote all facets of circular economy, including repurposing, remanufacturing and recycling.

Glory Global Solutions, a leader in cash technology solutions, needs to ensure the continuation of spare parts for some of their product range as they approach the end of life. As organisations transition to more circular economy practices, this is an issue that many companies face. RemakerSpace helped Glory overcome this problem by providing a technical and supply chain solution to the company’s inventory management problem, which included helping them understand the viability of on-demand spare part production, using state-of-the-art additive manufacturing equipment.

Our association with RemakerSpace has significantly improved our understanding of the circular economy, particularly 3D printing as a potential and realistic option for manufacturing production parts.

DSV A/S is one of the largest logistics companies in the world with expertise in air, road and sea freight operations. The RemakerSpace team works closely with DSV to help the company understand how it can also integrate repair services in its supply chains, and this has led to DSV setting up repair services for major supply chain customers around the world.

We all recognise that sustainability and the preservation of our planet are fundament for our future. The RemakerSpace is a magnificent example of how academia can be extremely helpful for industry. Not only does it bring DSV tangible benefits today, but importantly, it allows us to build the circular economy of tomorrow. In RemakerSpace, we have found inspiration and scientific support for the introduction of our own Remaker Services.

RemakerSpace has helped NHS Wales repair some of their non-clinical products for which spare parts are no longer available. Working closely with NHS technicians we have redesigned, redeveloped and supplied spare parts for a range of devices, saving thousands of pounds for the NHS, and ensuring important resources remain in use, that would otherwise have had to have been replaced.
