Trans policy

We celebrate and value the diversity of our community, and are committed to providing a supportive environment for trans staff and students.

Trans is an inclusive term describing all those whose gender expression falls outside the typical gender norms; including those who live continuously outside gender norms, sometimes with, and sometimes without, medical intervention.

No two trans lives or people are the same. We have worked with members of the trans community to develop our policy in order to ensure it effectively and efficiently supports all staff and students during their transition and time at our University.

Cardiff University has achieved a silver recognition award in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2024 and was ranked 109^th out of 246 employers in the UK for LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
