Institutional Archives
Our Institutional Archive collects selected records created by or relating to Cardiff University in order to permanently preserve and make accessible the University’s corporate memory.
The Institutional Archives’ collections include records from Cardiff University and its predecessor bodies, including:
- University College, Cardiff (formerly University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire)
- University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology
- University of Wales College of Medicine.
The collections include letter books, photographs, newspaper cuttings, deeds, charters, minute books, plans, accounts, files and official publications such as prospectuses and programmes.
The Archive has a long term aim to meet the National Archives' Standards for Record Repositories and Archives.

The purpose of the policy is to describe the categories of records that will be collected and preserved by the Institutional Archive.
