Our team of experts at the CPD Unit are here to provide you with a gateway to access the huge range of expertise available across the University. We will guide you through the process, facilitating the translation of research and knowledge into practical, impactful training activities.
Whether it is a week-long customised programme delivered here in Cardiff, a short course delivered in your country, or a long-term, residential professional development activity, we have the experience to develop and deliver quality learning solutions.
Our service spans the full range of requirements from initial proposal discussions through to meticulous planning of the delivery of your training. This includes offering advice and services relating to accommodation – private residences or University residences, transportation from airport, visits to businesses/ organisations to enhance the learning experience, cultural activities and student support.

Our programmes are bespoke and tailored to your specific requirements. We can work with you to create a purely educational training programme, or we can suggest a range of cultural activities to enhance your visit to Wales.
Our experienced team can also arrange additional services, as required. For example, we can arrange library access and tours, IT access, student support services, pastoral care sessions (for example, drop-in sessions each week), tours of University facilities, networking with academic staff relevant to your organisation or specialism.
We often arrange cultural events and excursions for international programmes. Recent examples include tours and trips to:
- Cardiff’s Principality Stadium
- St Fagans National Museum of History
- Tredegar, birthplace of Aneurin Bevan, the founder of the NHS
- The Senedd, the main public building of the National Assembly for Wales
- The Big Pit museum
We can also arrange other events, such as:
- Networking opportunities at formal dinners and events, held at prestigious locations in Cardiff such as Cardiff Museum and Cardiff Castle
- Theatre visits.
Our team at the CPD Unit will work with you to understand your exact requirements and present personalised proposal and full up-front costings. For guidance, we have provided some illustrative costs below for both short and long bespoke professional development programmes.
Programmes of two weeks or less in length will typically cost between £3,000 - £4,500 per day (for up to 15 delegates) for the development and delivery of a fully bespoke unaccredited programme at Cardiff University. This includes delegate accommodation, lunch and refreshments for the delivery days, and use of training facilities.
Longer programmes, such as a three-month programme, will typically cost between £3,000 - £4,000 per delegate per month for the development and delivery of a fully bespoke unaccredited programmes at Cardiff University. There will usually be a minimum number of 15 delegates for longer programmes. Longer programmes will often include orientation, course-related visits, English language sessions (if needed), and cultural activities. This includes delegate accommodation and use of training facilities.
