Overview

Professor of Economics

I am a Microeconomist specialising in International Trade, Industrial Organization and Public Economics. I have had articles published in numerous journals including the Economic Journal, Journal of International Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Canadian Journal of Economics, and Economics Letters. Currently, my main areas of research are the game-theoretic analysis of international trade agreements, international tax competition, and international environmental agreements.

Previously, I have worked on trade policy under imperfect competition (including export subsidies, countervailing duties, anti-dumping duties, quotas and voluntary export restraints), the gains from trade under imperfect competition, foreign direct investment, state aid policy, and immigration. I have also worked on collusion in infinitely-repeated games, and oligopoly in a general equilibrium setting.

My recent working papers on trade wars and international tax competition are available on EconPapers: The Non-Equivalence of Import Tariffs and Export Taxes in Trade Wars: Ad Valorem vs Specific Trade Taxes and A General Model of International Tax Competition with Applications.
