Pathway to a diploma in Dental Hygiene, or a degree in Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene
Between 3 March and 16 March 2025, we will be taking expressions of interest in the 2025 Pathway to Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. Please email Pathways@cardiff.ac.uk, confirming that you have met the entry requirements (5 GCSEs at grade C/4, including English language). We will be taking expressions of interest during this period only.
Our part-time Pathway to Dental Hygiene has been designed for adults who want to return to education in order to apply to study.
Modules are taught in the evenings and at weekends. You will study in a relaxed and supportive environment.
After studying the Pathway, you will be able to make an application to study the diploma in Dental Hygiene (B750) or a degree in Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene (B752).
How it works
The Pathway is made up of 60 credits.
Applicants need to have 5 GCSEs, grade A-C/9-4. This must include English language/Welsh (if you went to a Welsh-medium school).

- Public Policy for Health (20 credits)
- Introduction to Human Biology (20 credits)
Optional Modules
- Research Methods (10 credits)
- Social Psychology (10 credits)
- Education and Society (20 credits)
Duration
Under normal circumstances, you can expect to complete the Pathway within one year, but you can take longer if needed.
