Opportunities
Macular disease and ageing vision research
Our research team is working to find new tests and treatments for people with macular disease. We are looking to recruit healthy adults and people with macular disease, particularly those who still have good vision in one or both eyes, to take part in our studies. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested please complete our online questionnaire and we will contact you about studies that might be suitable.
You can discover more about our research group and active projects on the Macular Research Group webpage.
The Neurological Vision Loss database
In association with the School of Psychology, we are looking for research participants for studies of Neurological Vision Loss (NVL). Not only do we recruit people with neurological vision loss, but we also recruit healthy, normal-sighted individuals to act as comparisons with those who have vision loss. As long as you are aged above 18, you are eligible to sign up to our NVL database.
Download our information sheet for more details about the database. If you are interested in becoming a paid participant, please complete our online questionnaire.
Research and Evaluation of Area-Modulation Perimetry
People with glaucoma and people without glaucoma (control participants), of roughly the same age, will be invited to participate in several experimental tests, during which they will view a high-resolution screen and press a button every time they see a small spot of light appear on the screen in their side vision.
We will compare the performance of new and current methods in terms of accuracy and precision. To help us develop the new test, we are inviting people with glaucoma, and people with no eye conditions, to come for some visual field tests. We are looking for participants who are aged over 40 years.
