Low vision
If you are visually impaired, our Low Vision Clinic can help you make the most of your residual vision.
We can advise on the use of the magnifiers or other specialised aids. These aids given are on 'free loan' from this scheme, who encourage a return and re-cycle policy.
As we provide clinical training to undergraduate Optometry students, during semester time you will be seen by final year students who are supervised by fully qualified and accredited members of staff. During vacation period the patients will be seen by the University Optometrists.
You will usually be seen under the Low Vision Service Wales scheme, although there are some exceptions. If you are not resident in Wales, you will have to be seen privately. This involves a fee for both the magnifiers and the assessment.
We are very well equipped with both standard and specialised low vision aids and have strong links with the Hospital eye service, social services and the local voluntary organisations for people with visual impairment.
