Mary Pearce
1949-2020
The School of Law and Politics is sorry to announce the passing of Mrs Mary Pearce, a former member of staff.
Mary worked at reception in the main foyer of the School building for 17 years, for much of that time alongside the equally inimitable Dave Dawkins. Mary was known to generations of Cardiff students. Always full of joy and courtesy, no matter what life threw at her, Mary was a radiant and much-loved colleague. She would brighten up the day for students and staff alike upon their entering the building.
Mary covered the ‘morning slot’ at reception and was the first port of call for visitors and those telephoning the School. Mary joined the School in August 2000 and retired in August 2017. She made many lasting friendships in the School and Mary could often be seen at graduation celebrating with students and their parents. In due course, the School will properly mark Mary’s contribution to it. She leaves two daughters, a number of grandchildren and a great many friends in the School and beyond.
