Celebrating Excellence Awards 2017
10 November 2017
The School of Chemistry at Cardiff University has been recognised in the University’s Celebrating Excellence Awards. The School was presented with the School of the Year award at a dinner and presentation on 9 November. The School was also successful in the Outstanding Support of Others category with Mahmoud Akhtar, the School Manager, winning this award.
Over the past 5 years the School has blossomed into a close-knit and encouraging environment for study and research. This has been achieved by increased international activity, proactive outreach, improved student interaction and continued research excellence.
Professor Damien Murphy, Head of the School of Chemistry said: “I would like to congratulate Mahmoud on this well-deserved award. As School Manager, Mahmoud works tirelessly on many different tasks that enable the School to run smoothly, professionally and effectively, so I am delighted his hard work has been recognised through this award. I would also like to congratulate all of our staff for their hard work, commitment, dedication and determination over the past few years. It’s satisfying to see this hard work and the resulting success recognised at University level through this award.“
The awards recognise groups and individuals who go the extra mile, and recognise the contributions made by colleagues from across the University. This year 195 nominations were received across 15 categories of award.
