Spain and the Catalan Crisis: Dr Andrew Dowling

Senior lecturer in Hispanic Studies, Dr Andrew Dowling has recently shared his thoughts and knowledge of the Catalan referendum across a range of digital and print based media channels.

Dr Dowling is a specialist on modern and contemporary Catalonia and the author of The Rise of Catalan Independence: Spain’s Territorial Crisis. Consequently, he has provided comment on Sky News, France 24, BBC Radio Five Live and has been quoted by the Financial Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal during the turbulent times which have played out in Spain during October.

To provide more insight into Catalonia and the lead up to the referendum, Dr Dowling presented a public lecture, “Spain and the Catalan Crisis: Where do the roots of the problem lie?” on 18 October 2017.
