Co-location gets First Minister’s seal of approval

First Minister of Wales, the Right Honourable Carwyn Jones, has officially opened the Institute of Directors in Wales’ (IoD) new offices at Cardiff Business School.

The relocation is set to offer a host of benefits and opportunities to the School’s staff and students as well as IoD Wales members.

IoD Wales represents and unifies business directors from organisations of all sizes across the country. Their re-location at Cardiff Business School reflects a continued drive to lead and influence government policy and to instigate business collaborations and research.

The First Minister, Carwyn Jones, said: “It makes perfect sense for the IoD to be based in Cardiff Business School. For businesses, whatever their size, it is hugely important to be able to learn from the expertise here...”

Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean and Head of School, said: “I am delighted that we will be able to work more closely with our partners at the IoD, an organisation we have supported for many years...”

“It is my hope that this exciting co-location will offer even greater opportunities for IoD members to collaborate with our faculty and students, for their mutual benefit.”

Robert Lloyd Griffiths, Director of IoD Wales, added: “I am an alumnus of the school and the IoD has always had very close links with the University and all the School has to offer in terms of innovation, insight and world-leading research...”

Housing the IoD Wales in the Business School is part of the University’s wider commitment to creating hubs for researchers and external partners.

A new Innovation Campus on Maindy Road will allow more organisations to share space with leading researchers and cutting-edge facilities.
