Professor Sheila Hunt awarded Lifetime Achievement Award

Professor Sheila Hunt, who retired at the end of 2014 after seven and a half years as Dean and Head of School, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Journal of Midwifery Practice Awards 2015 on Monday night.
The BJM Awards are a prestigious part of the midwifery calendar, and recognise outstanding achievements in midwifery practice.
Prior to joining Cardiff University, Professor Hunt spent time as Dean of the University of Dundee's School of Nursing and Midwifery and Head of the School of Women's Health Studies at Birmingham Women's NHS Trust. She has been a midwife for over 30 years, training at Cardiff Royal Infirmary and St David's Hospital, Cardiff.
A highly experienced educator and professional, her research interests focused on women, childbirth, poverty and inequality.
Grace Thomas, Professional Head for Midwifery at Cardiff University, said: "Sheila has contributed so much to the midwifery profession over many years. This was a lovely evening, and very special for Sheila to have her contribution so warmly acknowledged by everyone."
