Neuroscience seminar
8 July 2010
Dr Deepak Srivastava, a Cardiff School of Biosciences graduate, visited the Neuroscience Division to present his recent research work.
Dr Srivastava graduated from Cardiff School of Biosciences in 1999 with a BSc in Neuroscience, and is currently in Department of Physiology, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago. He has recently published a number of influential papers in Neuron, PNAS and Nature Neuroscience regarding the control of spine structure.
The Seminar, entitled "Control of synaptic structural plasticity in neural circuits by neurosteroids" was held on Wednesday June 30 at the new, Cardiff School of Biosciences, Life Sciences building. It drew on work following from his paper "Rapid enhancement of two-step wiring plasticity by estrogen and NMDA receptor activity" (PNAS, 2008105(38):14650-5).
Dr Srivastava said about his undergraduate experience at Cardiff School of Biosciences "my time at Cardiff really helped to shape my enthusiasm and interest in Neuroscience, and really helped by giving me a unique and broad training in this area".
