BIOSI National Student Survey (NSS) Results 2011

It is with great pleasure we report that our 2011 National Student Survey (NSS) results have been published and show that all of our science degree programmes taught at the Cardiff School of Biosciences have achieved an overall student satisfaction rating of 93% and above, a satisfaction rate which is at least 5 percentage points above the UK average for corresponding subject areas.  In comparison to 2010, there has been a significant increase in student satisfaction across our degree programmes, with some programmes maintaining a high position in the resulting league tables.

We are particularly proud that our programmes have been commended by our students for the quality of the teaching provided and for their organisation and management.  As one of the largest Biosciences Schools in the UK, offering twelve different undergraduate degree programmes, these results are particularly encouraging.

The results of the survey also allow us to identify areas on which we wish to focus our efforts to improve the entire student experience. There is still work to be done to continue to improve our feedback on assessments, as we recognise the value placed on this by our students in helping them to achieve their full potential.  Work has recently been completed to upgrade and extend some of the School's teaching facilities through the M£3.6 investment of a new two-storey extension to the Biomedical Sciences Building.  This new building is student-focussed and offers our students even more study and teaching space, easy access to our Learning and Teaching Resource Centre, a new Undergraduate Office and a Coffee Shop.
