Students and staff enjoy 9th Engineering Postgraduate Research Conference

Postgraduate research students and staff took time out last week to attend the 9^th Engineering Postgraduate Research Conference which is designed specifically for our research students.

The conference was held from the 3^rd to 5^th of July at Gregynog Conference Centre in mid Wales. The aim of the conference is to promote interaction between academic staff, research staff and students across the School of Engineering in a pleasant and relaxed environment.

Participants enjoyed a full programme of presentations and poster sessions and in the evenings took part in social activities including the traditional Quiz Night organised by Dr Roger Grosvenor.

A competition was run alongside the conference for the best paper presentation and the best poster presentation.

Worthy winners were:

Best Poster:  Hasneen Al Asadi

Joint 2^nd Prize: Mazin Al-Shidani and Michael Barter

Best Presentation: Syed Muaaz-us-Salam

Joint 2^nd Prize: Simon Hutt and Konstantinos Karras

Dr Peter Cleall, Head of Postgraduate Research Students, said: “The conference is an excellent way for students to practice their presentation skills, share their expertise with colleagues, and get to know staff and other students.”
