Pint of Science
16 May 2017
On 15 May, Deputy Director of the Institute, Dr Matt Smalley was a guest scientist at Cardiff’s first ever Pint of Science event – a concept which brings some of the most brilliant scientists to the local pub to discuss their latest research and findings with the general public.
Speaking at the O’Neills bar in central Cardiff, Dr Smalley explained why early detection is the key to curing cancer.
Dr Smalley praised the Pint of Science concept, saying “Public engagement is an important element of my work. The Pint of Science festival is a great way of introducing the general public to the scientific research that’s taking place in their local area, and I was delighted to have the opportunity to take part in this worthwhile event.”
