Teaching Q-sort in Taiwan
14 June 2017
On April 20th Prof Alison Bullock and Jennifer Hampton from CUREMeDE were welcomed to the Chang Gung Medical Education Research Centre (CG-MERC) in Taiwan.
They had been invited by the CG-MERC Director, Prof Lynn Monrouxe to contribute to the Centre’s workshop series aimed at developing research skills within the community of healthcare education researchers. Their week’s visit represented a return visit for Alison who previously presented at the Centre in 2016.
CG-MERC headquarters is located in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou. It was set up to support the development of healthcare professionals through high quality medical education research, recognising that the quality of healthcare if affected by the quality of medical education. The CG-MERC seeks to influence the development of medical education research knowledge and expertise.
Alison ran two workshop (in Linkou and Kaohsiung) on writing critical literature reviews to support funding applications. Jen provided workshops on Q-sort methods and data analysis. Attendees includes clinician educators and research staff.
Prof Monrouxe commented, “the CG-MERC members were thrilled to welcome Alison Bullock back to Taiwan, bringing with her Jennifer Hampton. We had an amazingly rich time, learning about Q-Method theory and analysis as well as hints and tips on writing a critical literature review for grant capture. All events were delivered with style and expertise and we're now busy putting our learning into practice!”
Alison and Jen now contribute to two studies running in the Centre and look forward to continuing collaboration.
