Sharing our knowledge with China
30 October 2012
Leaders of China's top universities have arrived in Cardiff as the University plays host to Wales' first UK-China Forum.
Organised by the National Academy of Educational Administration (NAEA), in association with the British Council Beijing, the UK-China Forum consists of a 28 strong delegation of Chinese University Presidents, Vice-Presidents and Party Secretaries - alongside speakers from across the UK - to share management knowledge.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan, who has just returned from his first trip to China since taking over the reins at the University, said: "One of my priorities on taking up my role was to use Cardiff University's unique position in Wales and standing as a world-leading research University to raise our international profile.
"One of the many ways we can do this is to build our international educational and business links – especially with countries like China. Our relationship with China is hugely important for us as a University - it's a relationship based on a real two-way flow with the Chinese universities and businesses that we work with closely, bringing benefits to them and to us.
"Hosting the first UK-China Forum in Wales offers a unique opportunity to share knowledge and establish new links."
