Charity fundraising drive raises £1,000

13 January 2017

Cardiff Business School staff and students have raised £1,023.60 for Cancer Research UK through a number of activities held in late 2016.

The fundraising activity was instigated following the death of highly respected, and long-standing, colleague, Bruce Webb, who died in October 2016.

Mark Sweet, a member of the Undergraduate Hub’s administrative team, ran the Cardiff Half Marathon, raising £386.60 towards the overall total. The remainder of the monies collected was raised through School based events including a Christmas jumper day and a festive ‘buy a bauble’ day – where staff and students donated money to place a bauble on the School’s Christmas tree. Donations were also made in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

A cheque for the full total has been sent to Cancer Research UK, in memory of Bruce Webb, and with the School’s thoughts and sympathy.
