Awards recognise student excellence

Top performing students from the School of Geography and Planning have been recognised for their hard work and achievements.
The award presentation celebrated undergraduate students for their work during the academic year 2015 to 2016. New students who received a scholarship for the current academic year 2016 to 2017 were also awarded, including students on the undergraduate course BSc Urban Planning and Design and a range of postgraduate taught courses including MSc International Planning and Development, MSc Sustainability Planning & Environmental Policy, MSc Spatial Planning and Development and MA Urban Design.
Megan David who is studying for a master’s degree in Sustainability, Planning and Environmental Policy and received an award said: “I decided to undertake the MSc to develop my academic and theoretical understanding of sustainability. I am currently working for a sustainable development organisation alongside my studies which provide me with a thorough understanding of the key issues and debates around the subject. It is great to have the opportunity to discuss the issues I am passionate about with the lecturers and fellow students on the course. I’m so pleased to have been given an award.”
Students whose scholarships continue into their second and third years were presented with a certificate in recognition of having maintained their performance throughout the academic year.
The Bill Unsworth Prize for excellence in academic achievement was awarded by the RTPI Cymru to Oliver Jones.
