Final year students visit the Senedd
25 November 2016
Cardiff Business School’s Dr Tom Prosser took 40 final year Undergraduate students to Cardiff Bay recently to tour the Senedd and meet serving Assembly Members.
All of the students are enrolled on Dr Prosser’s European Business Environment module and the visit provided them with an opportunity to learn more about the National Assembly for Wales, its functions, and most importantly, the nature of its relationship with the European Union (EU).
In addition to a full tour of the Senedd building, which is the main public building of the National Assembly and opened in 2006, the group met with two Welsh Labour Assembly Members. Huw Irranca Davies, AM for Ogmore, and Jenny Rathbone, AM for Cardiff Central presented to the students and engaged in a lively debate around the current and future relationship between Wales and the EU.
Dr Prosser, who is Senior Lecturer in European Social Policy with the Management, Employment and Organisation section said of the visit: “This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to visit Wales’ national seat of government, and gain a better understanding of the Assembly’s role, responsibilities and impact on Welsh business, social and cultural life.
“I’m grateful to Huw Irranca Davies and Jenny Rathbone for taking the time to meet with the students and answer their questions. It was a productive and thought-provoking session which I know the students found useful and enjoyable.”
