Occupational Therapies Without Borders

Dr Dikaios Sakellariou, Senior Lecturer for Occupational Therapy, School of Healthcare Sciences alongside Nick Pollard has recently edited the newly published book ‘Occupational Therapies without borders – Integrating justice with practice’.

The second edition is a voluminous book, with 67 chapters and 150 authors from all over the world writing about the social and political aspects of occupation.

This new edition of this landmark international work, published as part of the Occupational Therapy Essentials series of Elsevier is hoped to be a required textbook for occupational therapy programmes around the world.

The current edition builds on two previous volumes, offering a window into occupational therapy practice, theory, and ideas in different cultures and geographies. Chapters deal with the impact of neoliberalism on health systems, the impact of austerity in the UK to people's daily lives, the development of eco-social occupational therapy, ageing for LGBTIQ people, and the use of occupational justice in everyday practice, among many other themes. Chapters represent experiences from the UK, USA, Australia, Japan, China, Greece, South Africa, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Nepal, Timor-Leste, Denmark, Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, and many other countries.
