School of Healthcare Sciences celebrates partnerships in practice
23 September 2016
Cardiff University, School of Healthcare Sciences held an event to celebrate its partnership with practice and the excellent opportunities offered to their students throughout the many health and social care environments across Wales.
The event took place in Park Plaza, Cardiff on 22 September 2016 where almost one hundred guests from across Wales attended for the awards ceremony. It was hosted by Professor Heather Waterman, Head of School and Dean, School of Healthcare Sciences who gave the opening address and Professor Dianne Watkins, Deputy Head: International and Engagement, School of Healthcare Sciences who presented the awards.
Practice education is an essential part of learning within the school; it provides students with the necessary experience of real health and care environments and helps develop their confidence as professionals.
The event honoured those who had made an outstanding contribution to practice education and was a chance to celebrate successes of the school’s mentors, educators and students who through their achievements have made an impact on others, and ultimately influenced the care of patients and clients.
Closing remarks were hosted by Stephen Griffiths, Director of Workforce, Education and Development Services (WEDS) following the presentation of awards.
Dr Jane Davies, Senior Lecturer: Director of Partnerships (UK) and lead for the celebration event commented ‘The afternoon provided the opportunity for both the school, students and the many practice partners to come together and celebrate partnership working.’
‘It was a really successful event, with many of those attending commenting how enjoyable the afternoon had been and how they felt the opportunity to thank practice partners in this way was invaluable.’
