Enriching Student Life Awards
15 May 2013
University staff and students have been recognised for their contribution to the student experience at the annual Enriching Student Life Awards.
Now in their third year, the student-led awards recognise the outstanding support and guidance given to students from a range of academic and administrative staff as well as Student Academic Representatives.
Focussing on key aspects of the Cardiff educational experience the awards cover areas such as: Most Effective and Most Innovative Teachers, Most Helpful and Most Uplifting Staff Members as well as Personal Tutor of the Year.
The awards are also an opportunity to recognise the work of Student Academic Representatives and the role they play in listening and acting upon the student voice.
Speaking at the awards ceremony Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan said: "We pride ourselves on the level of engagement we have with our students and the Enriching Student Life Awards are an excellent example of the proactive student engagement we have as well as highlighting the close relationship we have with our Students' Union.
"It's excellent to see the contributions of our staff and students being formally recognised and I would like to personally congratulate and thank all the winners and nominees for their continued commitment to the student experience."
This year saw an unprecedented number of nominations from students, highlighting the sheer amount of staff members who go the extra mile to support their students.
Beth Button, Education and University Affairs Officer added: "The Enriching Student Life Awards are a fantastic celebration of all the incredible staff and students that make this University so great.
"With a record number of nominations, and with some staff receiving over 30 individual nominations, these awards are a true testament to the dedication of those staff, whether academic, support, or administration, who go above and beyond to ensure the students they meet have the best experience at Cardiff.
"The awards are also a chance to celebrate those student academic representatives who dedicate so much time and effort into gathering student feedback and improving their courses for their peers, and without whom my job would be impossible."
