A new independent news and commentary website produced by academics and journalists has gone live featuring leading university research.
The Conversation sources news, commentary and the latest research from across the UK's academic community.
A team of professional journalists will work with academic authors to unlock their expertise, apply it to topical issues, and make it available to the public.
Cardiff University is a founding partner alongside some of the UK's leading research intensive universities and as the site went live, research by Professor Mike Bruford, School of Biosciences and Associate Member of the University's Sustainable Places Research Institute, Adrian Morley are featured. Professor Ian Hall has also published an article on the long history of solving a climate crisis.
University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan said: "The public is hungry for independent, high-quality, authenticated and trusted sources of news content, and universities can provide that.
"Here at Cardiff University we generate stories that the public want to hear about, whether in science, technology, culture, politics or social affairs.
"The Conversation provides a space for the dissemination of Cardiff's work, helping to make our discoveries and expertise widely accessible to all."
The site is open and free for everyone to read. It is both a media resource, allowing republishing of all articles, and a source of story ideas and new voices to follow up for interview.
