Professor Lesley Lowes nominated for Quality in Care award

Healthcare Sciences' Professor Lesley Lowes has been nominated as a finalist in the Quality in Care (QiC) Diabetes 2014 Awards for her campaign DECIDE: Delivering Early Care in Diabetes Evaluation.
Professor Lowes has been nominated in the category 'Best initiative to minimise in-patient stay.'
Funded by Diabetes UK, Prof Lowes' DECIDE study compared health outcomes for children with diabetes who began insulin therapy at home with those who began the treatment in hospital. The aim of the study is to inform clinical decision making as to the best interests of children with newly diagnosed diabetes and their families.
Lesley is the UK's first Florence Nightingale Professor of Clinical Nursing Research in Wales. Her aim is to demonstrate academic leadership in translating research directly into clinical care, supporting innovation and enhancing the patient experience.
This year's QiC Diabetes Awards presentation will be held on Thursday 16th October in Guildford.
