Griff Rhys Jones on the UK's energy challenge

Actor, author and comedian Griff Rhys Jones will share his views on the energy challenge facing Britain in a major debate at the University.

Hosted by the University's Sustainable Places Research Institute, the debate 'Mind the gap; meeting the energy challenge in the UK'(6 November 2013) will examine the issue of providing reliable, affordable, clean energy for current and future generations.

Griff, who is patron of the Research Institute will chair the panel of Alun Davies AM, Minster for Natural Resources and Food; Dr Simone Lowthe-Thomas, Head of Community Energy, Severn Wye Energy Agency Ltd;  Dr Adam Corner, Understanding Risk Research Group, School of Psychology; Milica Kitson, Chief Executive, Constructing Excellence in Wales; and Professor Justin Lewis, School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies.

The debate is part of the University's Sustainability Week (4-8 November 2013) which will see a range activities dedicated to sustainable development and environmental awareness.

While providing an opportunity to showcase the University's world-leading research and teaching in the field of sustainability, Sustainability Week is also a chance to engage staff, students and the wider community in making a concerted and joined-up effort to reduce our impact on the planet by becoming more socially, economically, and culturally aware.

The debate starts at 6.30pm on Wednesday 6^th November 2013 and takes place in the Julian Hodge Lecture Theatre. A drinks reception will be held beforehand at 5.30pm. The event is free of charge and open to the public but tickets must be reserved in advance.
