Civil Engineering performs strongly in QS World Rankings

Civil Engineering at Cardiff University has risen significantly to be rated in the top 100 universities in the world, in the latest QS international rankings.

The rankings, which are based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact, see the discipline rise into the top ten of its kind in Britain – as well as gaining a coveted place inside the world’s top 100.

Other engineering disciplines at Cardiff University remained competitive in the global higher education market, with a place inside the world’s top 200 retained by Mechanical Engineering.

Meanwhile, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (driven by an increase in both its academic reputation and the impact of published research papers) saw its overall score and therefore ranking rise, placing it inside the global top 250.

The QS World Rankings by Subject are published annually, and assessed on four key criteria: the recommendation of international academics in the chosen field, the course’s reputation amongst employers, research citations per paper and the ‘H-index’ measurement of publishing impact.
