Journalism competition
30 May 2014
Aspiring journalists have the opportunity to win a period of work experience with the Hacio and Y Byd ar Bedwar television crew in a new journalism competition organised in conjunction with the Urdd Eisteddfod.
Competitors are asked to produce an original news story about their local area for any medium of their choice.
Sali Collins, lecturer in Journalism at Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol at Cardiff University, said: "The aim of the competition is to encourage children and young people to write and create journalistic content through the medium of Welsh.
"As we develop new provision through the medium of Welsh at Britain's leading centre of journalism at Cardiff University, it's vital that we encourage children and young people to write and create content through the medium of Welsh.
"There is a demand for journalists who can work through the medium of Welsh and we hope this competition and prize can provide the winner with an unforgettable experience and an opportunity for them to develop their journalistic, linguistic and digital skills."
The winner/s will spend a period of time working as journalists and researchers with ITV Cymru's Hacio team and with journalists on Y Byd ar Bedwar for S4C.
