Former Cardiff LLB student becomes QC

We were thrilled to recently hear that Philip Evans, long time School supporter, has taken Silk; becoming a QC (Queen’s Counsel) this February.

Philip is an alumnus of the School and is based at QEB Hollis Whiteman chambers in London. He has expertise in serious and complex crime and regulation cases and recently appeared for the prosecution on the high profile Hatton Garden heist case which saw several men found guilty for their involvement in the "largest burglary in English legal history".

For the last 15 years, Philip has been a loyal supporter of the law school, regularly attending our careers, employability and advocacy events and often visiting the School to speak to and support our students.

During the last three years Philip has worked with the School’s staff and students for free, on the Cardiff Innocence Project. He, together with fellow Cardiff Bar Vocational Course alumnus Tim Naylor, has advised us and drafted the appeal paperwork for a major innocence project case, which we are about to submit directly to the Court of Appeal.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Philip on this fantastic achievement and to thank him for all his help and support throughout the years.
