19 March 2025

The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject have placed the School of Journalism, Media and Culture in the top 50 in the world for communication and media studies, placing it amongst the world’s best institutions.
The annually published rankings aim to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject. The results use research citations data, along with the results of global surveys of employers and academics to rank universities and this year, over 250 institutions have been included in the rankings.
Dr Matt Walsh, Head of the School Journalism, Media and Culture said: “This is another remarkable achievement for the School and it’s great to see our teaching and research excellence being acknowledged globally.
“The School has performed well in the QS World Rankings in previous years, consistently being placed in the top 50, and it’s a testament to our dedicated staff who work so hard to give our students the best experience possible during their time with us.
“We hope this result will reaffirm that choosing to study with us at Cardiff University will see students receive an education of the highest standards.”
