Smashing good time at Kuala Lumpur alumni event
18 March 2025

Cardiff University’s Kuala Lumpur Chapter recently hosted a pickleball and networking meet-up, offering alumni a chance to reconnect through friendly competition and shared experiences.
Co-Chair Junaidy Ab-Mutalib (BSc 1996) said that it was truly "a smashing good time," with all 24 spaces for the game sold out in record time. Junaidy also extended special thanks to Lim Keat Long (BEng 1999), who organized the meet-up.
Alumni who didn’t grab one of the spaces for the game came along to watch and joined in with the post-match networking and refreshments.

"The energy was fantastic with everybody bringing their A-game, connecting with old friends and making new ones. It was more than just a game - it was about building friendships, strengthening our alumni network and having a blast together. A huge thank you to everybody who joined, played and cheered us on. Your enthusiasm and support made this event very special."
Looking ahead, the Kuala Lumpur Chapter is excited to announce their next event: a Buka Puasa gathering.
Co-Chair Larissa Ann Louis (BPTC 2014) shared details of the upcoming event with the chapter’s 400+ members via LinkedIn, inviting alumni to join for a break-fasting evening meal during the holy month of Ramadan.

"Buka Puasa is a great time for Malaysians to come together and celebrate the season alongside our Muslim friends. We trust this event will further connect us, even more than as alumni of Cardiff University."
Barry Sullivan, Deputy Director of Supporter Relations and Head of Alumni & Supporter Relations, said:
"All our alumni Chapters are volunteer-led, so to see the Kuala Lumpur group taking things to the next level is really fantastic. It's great to know we can help communities across the world connect locally through their shared history here at Cardiff."
