Dr Maryam Lotfi joins BSI committee to combat modern slavery

Dr Maryam Lotfi, Co-Director of the Modern Slavery and Social Sustainability Research Group at Cardiff Business School, has been appointed to the British Standards Institute's (BSI) Modern Slavery Committee.
This prestigious role positions her at the forefront of shaping national policies and standards to combat modern slavery.
The BSI helps businesses to deliver better products, governments to enact better regulation, and agree standards that address society’s biggest challenges
Dr Lotfi’s appointment enables her to directly influence the development and revision of modern slavery standards, reinforcing ethical business practices across the UK.

I look forward to collaborating with experts across the country to drive positive change and strengthen Cardiff University’s leadership in this crucial area.”
This achievement also brings recognition to Cardiff University, making it the fifth UK institution to join the committee. Cardiff now stands alongside King’s College London, the University of Nottingham, the University of Manchester, and the University of Sheffield, along with the Home Office and other key organisations in tackling this pressing global issue.
