Two staff members from the School of Modern Languages have been honoured with prestigious AdvanceHE fellowships, celebrating their outstanding contributions to higher education teaching.
PhD researcher Jacob Lloyd, who also teaches on undergraduate courses, has been named a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). The panel praised his dedication to student engagement, an AI student partnership, and glowing feedback from students.
Reflecting on the achievement, Jacob said: “Recognition of the work I have put into obtaining the award means a lot to me, as it has not always been easy to balance this alongside my studies and my teaching responsibilities! I am proud to have attained Advance HE Fellowship as I believe it reflects how passionate I am about teaching, and I hope that it will help me on the road to becoming a full-time educator.”
Dr Xuan Wang, a Senior Lecturer, has been named a Senior Fellow (SFHEA) and was recognised for her impactful teaching and leadership in Chinese language and culture studies. Her commitment to innovative and collaborative teaching practices has led to significant changes in learning and teaching practices in her discipline, both locally and nationally.
Xuan said: “I am really proud to put SFHEA after my name. This formal recognition is incredibly rewarding and affirming for me, and the journey has deepened my professional standing and positive growth. I would strongly recommend it to colleagues who wish to engage with experience-based CPD and contribute to excellence in learning and teaching in Cardiff University.”
These awards highlight the School’s dedication to advancing educational excellence and inspiring leaders in teaching.
