Dear student,
It's my pleasure to write to you as your Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience. I hope you have had a great start to the semester and you are feeling settled.
While you’re studying in Cardiff you’ll gain lots of skills that will help you unlock your academic potential and set you up for success beyond university. Over the summer we’ve improved our learning materials to make it even easier for you to boost your skills for success.
Whether it’s gaining new study techniques, making the most of digital tools, learning a new language or boosting your employability, every step you take brings you closer to achieving your goals. A few highlights you might want to start with include:
- mastering your time management and avoiding procrastination
- a guide to referencing and academic integrity
- free maths, English language and study skills classes
- developing your employability skills and graduate attributes.
Keep an eye on the intranet for upcoming events, classes, careers fairs and other opportunities to boost your skills.
Our campuses are an important part of your university experience and we make it a priority to make sure they remain a safe, supportive and welcoming place for all. Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Damian Walford Davies recently wrote to reminds us of this, I want to echo his message and encourage you to read the update, if you haven’t already.
If you ever feel unsafe on campus you can alert security through the Safe Zone app. Our mental health and wellbeing services are here to help if you need someone to talk to. You can also access TalkCampus 24/7. It’s a safe, student-led, anonymous community to talk about the ups and downs of life without judgement.
Thank you for being a part of our community and don’t forget, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Best wishes,
Nicola
