School of Music staff in China

Following the publication of the Mandarin edition of his book After the Golden Age: Romantic Pianism and Modern Performance (黄金时代之后) Professor Kenneth Hamilton has completed two tours of China.
Organised by Shanghai Music Publishing House in association with Shanghai Conservatory. Professor Hamilton visited Shanghai and Zhejiang Conservatories and Suzhou University in May, to give concerts, lectures, masterclasses and book signings.
In September he undertook similar activities at the new International Piano Centre at Xiamen Institute of Technology where he was presented with a Distinguished Artist award; at Tan Kah Kee College in Xiamen; at Minnan Normal University in Zhangzhou, at South China Normal University and Steinway Hall in Guangzhou; at East China Normal University in Shanghai; at Peking University and the Central Conservatory in Beijing; and at Xi’an Conservatory.
In October, Professor Hamilton was Keynote Presenter at a two-day Music Performance Research Symposium at UCSI University in Malaysia.
Professor Monika Hennemann has been extensively engaged in China over the summer, lecturing on Mozart’s Magic Flute, on Mendelssohn’s Piano Music, and on Improvised Accompaniment in 19th-Century Song Performance.
Professor Hennemann lectured at Peking University; the Central Conservatory in Beijing; Beijing Normal University; South China Normal University; East China Normal University; Xi’an Conservatory; and Xiamen University.
She also gave guest lectures at the opening ceremony for the International Piano Centre at Xiamen Institute of Technology, where she was presented with a Distinguished Scholar award, and at Sunway University in Malaysia.
Dr Jerry Zhuo has also undertaken a series of engagements in China as the School's Co-Director of International Engagement, extensively promoting the School of Music and presenting his own cultural and compositional research at Xiamen University, Beijing Normal University, South China Normal University and Minnan Normal University.
Dr Zhou also acted as an expert translator for Professors Hennemann and Hamilton at the China Central Conservatory, Beijing Normal University, Xiamen University, Xiamen Institute of Technology, Minnan Normal University, and Tan Kah Kee College.
