Cardiff Emotion Recognition Training now available in Welsh
2 October 2024
In order to recognise emotions in others we need to be able to recognise their facial expressions. Most children learn this for themselves, but sometimes it can be helpful to teach facial recognition of emotion explicitly. At Cardiff University we have developed a computerised emotion recognition training (the Cardiff Emotion Recognition Training or CERT) to improve the identification of facial expressions of happiness, sadness, fear and anger. More information can be found on the CERT website. The training is available in several different languages; English, Dutch, German, Finnish, and now Welsh.
In addition to improving emotion recognition ability, the CERT also aims to;
- improve the ability to understand when and why certain emotions are shown,
- improve the ability to understand that people can show different emotions in the same situation,
- provide guidance on the appropriate response to someone displaying a certain emotion.
