Boosting our community
21 February 2014
Cardiff University has launched two new websites for its new School of Modern Languages and the Department of Politics and International Relations.
From September 2014, the University's modern language teaching and research will be delivered from the bespoke new School.
Head of the School of Modern Languages, Professor Claire Gorrara, said: "The new School provides a great opportunity for Cardiff to create a coherent and inclusive languages community and a hub for our international and Erasmus students.
"We are also delighted that the School will be home to the new Languages for All project, which launches in September and which provides all Cardiff students with the opportunity to learn a language alongside their formal studies."
The University has also launched the website for its new Department of Politics and International Relations.
Politics and international relations were formerly part of School of European Languages, Translation and Politics. The new Department of Politics and International Relations will allow the discipline's research and teaching to gain better recognition.
The department will form a new School with Cardiff Law School. Professor Peter Sutch, Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations, explained: "Cardiff has built a strong reputation for its expertise in politics and the launch of the new department gives us a great opportunity to build on this, expanding our research base and developing new teaching programmes."The disciplines of law and politics have always worked closely together and the reorganisation allows us to collaborate further on joint teaching and research ventures."
